Mission
Ames C.art (ames collaborative art) is the facilitation of collaboration between all media and art in order to infuse the community with creativity through public projects – be they workshops, lectures, or on the street art. Ames Collaborative Art. Encouraging the growth, sharing, collaboration of ames area artists and creative do gooders.
The whole thing is ambulatory – on the move – collaborating with various businesses, organizations and artists in order to host a variety of events that encourage creativity, growth, and participation of the community in the arts.
Get involved
There are many ways to be involved with the ames c.art: coming to events, donating your organizations space for event hosting, teaching a workshop, setting up and hosting an event, writing a review for the website, volunteering at the Ames C.art Volunteer Nights helping to keep the community event calender up to date by sending me information about your or your organization’s events. Any idea you have, just email me and we can work together to make it happen. And that is what it’s all about: the ames c.art is Ames Collaborative Art.

Board of Directors
Kristin Roach – Founder, President, & Volunteer Coordinator – graduated with a BFA in painting in 2008 and is currently teaching art and craft classes, painting murals, and inspiring others to live life creatively with her website and zine CraftLeftovers and her work here at Ames Collaborative Art. Laura Sullivan – Vice President – grew up near Amery, Wisconsin with the arts, in a variety of forms, as a major part of her life. This included attending and participating in activities at her hometown’s Northern Lakes Center for the Arts. With a BA in art history and a Masters in library science, she now works at ISU’s Special Collections Department in Parks Library. She was delighted to find that an organization which encouraged creativity and collaboration in a variety of arts and media, combined with community projects, existed here as Ames C.art. Laura enjoys doing arts and crafts on the side including knitting, crocheting, baking, occasionally playing her clarinet or recorder, and any other creative activity that sparks her fancy at the moment. Crystal Tice – Secretary - is a single mom working to balance a day job with a creative life.She finds inspiration everywhere and shares her writing, crafts, and things that inspire her with the group.She is often found with her son in tow as she keeps track of Ames C.art events and hosts a writers group. Kristin Steinbach – Treasurer – Originally from the small town of Waverly, IA, Kristin Steinbach came to ISU for the architecture program and left with a business management degree and a minor in Spanish. While attending school she worked part time at a mom-and-pop bead, jewelry, and gift shop called Grandma’s Jewelry Box and decorated cakes at the West Ames Hy-Vee bakery. Now the Human Resource Manager at Hy-Vee, Ames C.art is her main all-in-one creative outlet where she serves as Treasurer. She loves the social aspect and obtaining a wide range of fun, creative ideas of all kinds of media from a variety of awesome people. Contact at ksteinbach@amescart.org

Lyndsay Nissen – Board Member - graduated with a BA in art from the University of California Santa Cruz. She grew up in Ames and has now returned to her hometown. Her medium is mainly oil painting and sculpture using recycled materials. She is interested in teaching classes and inspiring greater art appreciation here in Ames.- Contact at Lnissen@amescart.org
